Perseus was the son of Danae, herself the only child of Acrisius, King of Argos. Disappointed by his lack of male heirs, Acrisius consulted the oracle, whom warned him that, destined to remain without a son himself, he would one day be killed by his daughter's child. Danae was childless and, to keep her so, he shut her up in a brazen chamber underground. Enamored by Danae’s beauty, Zeus came to her in the form of a shower of gold and soon after, their child Perseus was born. Perseus would later take on a quest to search for and slay the gorgon, Medusa and rescue the Aethiopian princess, Andromeda and by some accounts is the direct ancestor of the Persian royal line. And so we find this alluring timepiece from Balmer, ready and willing to provide that perfect first impression. Made with an exclusive Swiss Leschot LM-196 super automatic caliber movement, a triad of subsidiary dials offers their own incredible insight into timekeeping. The date of the month, day of the week, and even a secondary timezone are on exhibition upon the smooth, dual tone dial with only the crown on the edge of the brushed stainless steel case to set them. The true luxury, perhaps, is the textured crocodile leather strap that curls around your wrist, while held with an opulent slip butterfly buckle to create the perfect fit. These pieces are offered in a limited edition that is sure to become a wonderful collector’s item for years to come.
