Orion, a constellation often referred to as The Hunter, is perhaps the best-known in the sky. Its brilliant stars are centered upon on the celestial equator, and hence are visible throughout the entire world. There is a ironic, yet classic pictorial legend that goes with Orion. As Orion battles Taurus the Bull with his bow and club, Scorpio the Scorpion chases him, yet never can quite reach his heels. And so Scorpio rises in the sky just after Orion begins to set, never appearing in the sky at the same time. Orion's hunting dogs, Canis Major and Canis Minor follow Orion across the sky, assisting him in his battle with Taurus.
